Will Flying Cars Be The Trend?

As many people remember back in July of 2009, the flying car was in the news. The first test flight of the car was successful. Flying for thirty-seven seconds, the car has wings which take thirty seconds to extend and lock. With a wingspan of 27 feet, 6 inches, the car can leave the ground with 1,700 feet of runway. Another words, it could take off and land on most any American highway.

If this car becomes a practical reality, what will be the implications? I can certainly hear the voice of my daughter telling me that she has to have the newest model of this winged wonder. With a starting price of $194,000, there goes the college fund!

One benefit is that salaries for Department of Motor Vehicles drivers test givers will certainly increase. One of the pitfalls is that everyone’s car insurance would probably triple! All in all, with the bad driving habits of many people on the road today, I not sure this is the best idea.

Girl Loves To Fish…

I’m that one in a million girls that loves to fish. I like everything about it. I can do everything from untying the boat and “Shoving off” to heading out to open water. We did a lot of fishing when we were young. My dad taught the whole family, the  boys and the girls. Acting all girly girl didn’t cut the mustard with my Dad, he had all three of us girls baiting our own hooks and teaching us how to take the fish off the hook after you have reeled it in. That was the hardest part for me and still is. I feel bad for the fish, no way do I want it to suffer and cause it unnecessary pain at all. I’m not all that crazy about cleaning
the fish either. I am always so afraid that I am going to miss a bone and someone will end up choking on it and dying because of something that I didn’t do right. That would be just god awful!

I was looking in my tackle box, what a mess! I need to sort it out and give it a good cleaning. I still have plenty of line and tackle, but I may need to upgrade some of my lures. Well, I guess I’ll go get that done. If the weather continues to be so nice, I’ll be down at the shore!

A Smugglers Tale

It seems that Canada is becoming a major supplier of numerous America’s illegal tradings. Smugglers are taking advantage of the long and open border between the two countries to bring in all kinds of illegal products. Groups such as the hells Angels are running the trade and making good money from the deal.

So far, there is little being done to stop the illegal trade. Officials on both sides of the border are aware of the problem but have little funds and staff to deal with it. I certainly hope that we will begin to take this problem a little more seriously and start cracking down on these criminals.

With so much interest on the U.S./Mexico borders and all the things that are happening down there there is little attention being paid to our northern borders and I don’t see anything being down about it any time soon. Did you know that the U.S./Canadian border is the longest un patrolled border in the entire world? Imagine all the stuff that goes on up there that we just have no clue about, never hear about and probably never will until we get things down south under control and god only knows how long that will take to do, if ever.

The Robots and Man

Robots seem to be in all the latest movies we see. Whether it is the Terminator, or transformers, these living machines dominate the box office. Although the movie versions of these machines have far greater capabilities than anything we have to date, it may not be long before they greatly increase their operational capability.

Many advances in the field of electronics are leading designers to believe that the age of robots is near. The Sci-fi fantasies may soon become true. I look forward to the day when a robot will be able to do my laundry and clean my house. Until then, I’ll have to do it myself!

Fishing Can Be Fun

As I’ve mentioned before, I love go fishing. With a little bit of planning, a fishing trip can be great fun for the while family. With this in mind, here are a few top tips on how to go about planning a successful fishing trip – even if you don’t catch many fish!

Firstly, if you are planning on going as a group, then you will need to make sure that you have all that you need to keep everyone comfortable and entertained. Although catching fish can be exciting, you might be waiting some time before you get a bite, so take a good book, magazine, or even a laptop to play foxy bingo on while you wait. You’ll want something which can keep you entertained, without causing too much noise that might scare away a potential catch.

You will also need to stock up on bait or flies. Know what type of fish it is that you are hoping to catch, and find out what works best in attempting to attract them. You will also want to make sure you have the right type of hooks and lines to reel in your catch. For most places, you will need a license in order to be able to go fishing, so it is worth finding out whether or not this is the case and ensuring that your license is in date. After all, you don’t want to arrive at your chosen location, only to find that you have to head straight back home again.

Lastly, it is good to remember that fishing trips can easily be an all-day affair, so pack a few snacks to keep you going. If you’re fishing during the cooler weather, then it can be a good idea to take a flask of hot coffee or soup to help everyone stay warm. Have fun!
