I was looking online for a good prank to play on one of my co-workers. I ran across a story that really tickled me. It was in 1953. A television program from the BBC showed the Swiss harvesting spaghetti from trees.
Claiming that the spaghetti weevil had been eradicated, they touted the great harvest. What was funny is that a number of people contacted the BBC wanting info on how to plant a spaghetti tree! Now that’s funny!!
Today is April Fool’s Day and it means that some people will be trying to take advantage of your trust by playing pranks on you.
I do not like the idea of practical jokes, although when I have seen some of them played out on TV I have to admit that they were funny. There was one short lived TV series called “I Get That A Lot” or something like that. The show as about celebrities placed in menial jobs and having to interact with the general public who thought they recognized the celebrity. The celebrity always denied who they really were by saying, “I get that a lot.” But then they do confess at the end of the interaction. It was funny watching the customers try to figure out what was going on and how they acted toward the celebrity before and after they knew the truth.
It’s funny how sometimes and innocent phone call can turn into a three hour marathon! The very thing happened to me the other day after I called sister. We had a lot to catch up on and the time slipped away without notice. We talked about everything under the sun and had a great conversation.
Although I love all my sisters equally, she is my favorite one. We have always been close and hung out together as children. I was glad to have a good catch up session with her just like the old days. I guess I’ll need to call my mom next!
The Tonight Show just doesn’t seem to cut it these past several years or so, thinking about it it was right around when they changed things up so badly. Moving Jay Leno to 10:00pm and gave Conan the 11:30 slot that The Tonight Show has made it’s home for so very long. We all know how that ended up for everyone involved. I understand that Jay and Conon still are not talking to each other because of all the bad blood between them.
If I watch anything at that hour of the evening it is David Letterman. David Letterman is always making jokes about Donald Trump’s hair. He insinuates that Trump is wearing a toupee and teases him relentlessly. I guess since Trump is such a public figure he is a target for anything that has to do with his appearance. But to be very frank, making fun of a guy’s hair or lack of hair is a little too personal to be funny. Most guys just have to make the best of whatever hair their genes and Mother Nature has thrown their way.
Some guys with receding hairlines and early stages of male pattern baldness are looking into a hair transplant to help improve their appearance. There is not a lot of information on hair transplants in the regular media, like local newspapers and TV talk shows. but you can find all kinds of information online about the various options available to people in today’s high tech world. Of course there is nothing like a personal referral from someone that you know and trust. Word of mouth always has been and always will be the best advertising tool around.
I was at work and my friend Donna showed me this quote.
“A balanced diet is a cookie in each hand.”
It was funny because we had just shared a pack of cookies earlier in the day. I guess we’ll have to start sharing salads instead!
