As I’ve mentioned before, I love go fishing. With a little bit of planning, a fishing trip can be great fun for the while family. With this in mind, here are a few top tips on how to go about planning a successful fishing trip – even if you don’t catch many fish!
Firstly, if you are planning on going as a group, then you will need to make sure that you have all that you need to keep everyone comfortable and entertained. Although catching fish can be exciting, you might be waiting some time before you get a bite, so take a good book, magazine, or even a laptop to play foxy bingo on while you wait. You’ll want something which can keep you entertained, without causing too much noise that might scare away a potential catch.
You will also need to stock up on bait or flies. Know what type of fish it is that you are hoping to catch, and find out what works best in attempting to attract them. You will also want to make sure you have the right type of hooks and lines to reel in your catch. For most places, you will need a license in order to be able to go fishing, so it is worth finding out whether or not this is the case and ensuring that your license is in date. After all, you don’t want to arrive at your chosen location, only to find that you have to head straight back home again.
Lastly, it is good to remember that fishing trips can easily be an all-day affair, so pack a few snacks to keep you going. If you’re fishing during the cooler weather, then it can be a good idea to take a flask of hot coffee or soup to help everyone stay warm. Have fun!
