Tonight marks the first full moon of the year 2017. Because it is the first full moon, it is also known as the wolf moon. This name dates back to American Indian culture and their belief that wolfs howl at moon because they are hungry. There is also an added bonus that comes with tonight’s bright moon.
When the moons orbit is closest to us, it is called perigee. When perigee and a full moon coincide, as they will tonight, the result is a brighter, bigger moon. This means that some features of the moons surface will be very visible. I hope that everyone will be able to take a few minutes to walk outside and check out this rare and awesome sight!
It seems that there is a new study out that predicts that women are more susceptible to cigarette smoke than men. A study by the Swiss indicates that women are younger when they get lung cancer, even if they have smoked less than men. There are other studies that show that women die in greater numbers than men from smoking.
Second hand smoke also plays a role in people who get cancer. I think it is important that if you smoke, at least have the courtesy to go outside and away from everyone else. Don’t forget that lung cancer is the leading cause of death for all people in the U.S.
I’m that one in a million girls that loves to fish. I like everything about it. I can do everything from untying the boat and “Shoving off” to heading out to open water. We did a lot of fishing when we were young. My dad taught the whole family, the boys and the girls. Acting all girly girl didn’t cut the mustard with my Dad, he had all three of us girls baiting our own hooks and teaching us how to take the fish off the hook after you have reeled it in. That was the hardest part for me and still is. I feel bad for the fish, no way do I want it to suffer and cause it unnecessary pain at all. I’m not all that crazy about cleaning
the fish either. I am always so afraid that I am going to miss a bone and someone will end up choking on it and dying because of something that I didn’t do right. That would be just god awful!
I was looking in my tackle box, what a mess! I need to sort it out and give it a good cleaning. I still have plenty of line and tackle, but I may need to upgrade some of my lures. Well, I guess I’ll go get that done. If the weather continues to be so nice, I’ll be down at the shore!
Before my boyfriend and I made it official we were the best of friends for about ten years, and in that ten years he learned how to play the guitar. He was a little shaky at first, but most people are when they pick something up to play for the first time, but he learned how to play very well within just a years worth of time.
Ever since he learned how to play, he has steadily practiced every day to be better then he was before. Recently within the last two months his guitar he had since he picked up a guitar, broke during our move into our new home. At the time we were a bit behind financially, but luckily I jumped on my laptop one evening and searched around on the net for a new guitar for him as well as a new and improved 1000 watt amp.
I remembered him talking to a friend of ours a few nights before about an Ibanez guitar specifically he wanted. I found one that I thought he might like, and it took no time at all for me to find one I thought would fit him. I ordered it that night, and when it had arrived at our home, I tucked it away until he had gotten home from work. When he got settled in I handed him the package and he was so surprised since there was no holiday or birthday coming up. He opened it and saw his new Ibanez electric guitar, and immediately got it tuned up so he could play. I am so happy I could make him smile so big and give the gift of playing more beautiful music.
Whatever happened to emptying the cache? I seem to remember a few years ago that using Internet Explorer and surfing the internet for hours each day, the system would get bogged down. Then along would come a self-proclaimed tekkie who would advise solemnly, “You need to empty your cache.” Then you would do into the tools tab on the browser – I think that’s where it was – and click on a few things and then the machine would magically cleanse itself, badda boom, badda bing, easy as pie. Am hoping I spelled that correctly, my spell check certainly didn’t like it but didn’t come up with any alternatives to use.
Well, I switched to Firefox over 3 years ago and I’ve never had that problem and I’ve never emptied the cache using Firefox. I don’t know if I’m supposed to be doing any maintenance or not. I guess I need to get online and investigate some of this. With things changing so quickly and the typical person, much like myself, has to do what they can when they can. Being able to use the Internet to learn things, just like this situation, is wonderful. I’ll let you know what my research comes up with – in the mean time any comments on this subject would be appreciated.
