Gift Cards

April 25, 2009

One of the greatest inventions of the twenty-first century has to be the gift card! I’m one of those people who have a difficult time deciding what to get for people who have birthdays, anniversaries, etc… It is really nice to have the option of the gift card.

It makes things so much easier. I can save a lot of time that otherwise would be spent trying to figure out what someone I hardly know wants or needs. As far as other great inventions in my lifetime, I’ll keep the microwave oven as well!

Water Woes

April 21, 2009

I’ve been hearing about the plight of all the people in North Dakota, Minnesota, and Canada. All these people may lose their homes because of the severe flooding that is taking place. The water has kept on rising and it is unknown when it will stop.

I am glad to hear that so many people are helping out. Volunteers are giving their time and money to help build the dykes that are protecting the homes. I sincerely hope they will be successful. It’s nice to know that in times of crises, friends and neighbors still pull together. No matter the outcome of the situation, I am proud of the actions of these selfless persons!

Hello Easter bunny!

April 12, 2009

It’s that time of year again, when the Easter bunny comes hopping down the bunny trail. Easter is such a fun holiday! Just for kicks, I boiled up some eggs and got out my paints. The kids are a little to old for the hunt, but I enjoyed coloring up some eggs anyway.

Our local church sponsors an Easter egg hunt for the tots. I did enjoy watching the little ones running around. They were all so excited. It reminded me of the days when my children were young! Well, have a happy Easter!

Yew Sunday

April 5, 2009

To all my Christian friends out there, today is the day known as Palm Sunday. Traditionally one week before Easter, it is widely celebrated throughout the world. This holiday commemorates Christ’s entry into Jerusalem. His followers laid their cloaks and palm fronds into the path he was taking.

Distributing palm leaves to its members is a tradition in many churches. Some churches had difficulty getting palm leaves and so instead substituted the boughs of yew trees. This led to the day being called Yew Sunday. Whatever name you choose, I wish all people a great day!
