Spent a few hours with my friend, Mason Vaughn, last night. He’s a good guy with a troubled story. But we’ve been friends for over 20 years and I say that friends stay true – through thick and thin.

So Mason has a Facebook account and he was posting comments when I showed up. Since I don’t know anything about Facebook, I asked if I could watch while he wrote comments and added new friends to his collection.

It looks pretty easy to work with, but I’m not sure I need to get signed up. It seems like a lot of work to keep your account and deal with friends on the internet. I have done a pretty good job of keeping up with my friends by using the phone and sometimes email. I don’t know if Facebook would really help me with my friends or would it just take more of my time?

IBM as400 Assistance

October 26, 2009

There are many problems that can crop up when you work in a large office. Since I am one of the bosses, I usually end up having to solve the problem. When we had trouble finding a replacement for our IBM as400 , I thought I would have a difficult day. I was glad to find that some solutions are easier than you think.

The day started out as any other. Around ten o’clock, an assistant of mine came to me in a panic. Our system had gone down and the tech department could not fix the problem. We were dead in the water. I knew that I had to find a solution soon. I got my laptop out and started looking for a replacement system. I was happy to find a site called perfdata.com that had the answers to my questions.

It turns out that they specialize in reselling equipment. That means that their prices are very competitive with everyone else on the internet. I was able to purchase another system and have it sent to us right away. I must admit that I had saved the day for my company. The tech people quickly got our system back online and my boss was impressed with my quick thinking. I’m glad when I can shine!

Help with computers

September 6, 2009

In today’s day and age, we all rely heavily on the computer. The problem is that we often make mistakes that can be hard to recover from. Human error is the number one factor when it comes to computer problems. Let’s face it; we’ve all been there before. I had a problem because I had accidently erased an important email. Luckily I found an answer to my problem.

I found a site called remosoftware.com that can help with e-mail problems. When I accidently erased an email, they had a way for me to recover it. I used a program called Outlook Mail Recovery that allowed me to recover the information I had lost. I was so happy that I could get the email back and not look like a fool.

Another good thing about it was that I was able to use the service to ensure that it would work before I purchased it. You can use the program to preview the results before you buy. That made me feel comfortable with spending the money to buy it. Now that I have my email back I will be able to go ahead and finish my work. I hope that the people who invented this product will know how much they have helped people in need.

Internet radio

July 3, 2009

My daughter was playing the radio the other day. She likes to listen to music while she does her chores. I thought she had a mixed tape in, but it turns out she was on an internet radio site called Pandora. We took a break and she showed me how it works.

You can “create your own station” by typing in the name of a band you want to hear. They then play songs by similar artists that are in the same venue. I decided to try it and made my own station with a band I like. I was happy hear the results, and soon I was rocking down the house!!
