It’s finally happened! I won the office pool for the monster truck tickets for the show next week. That’s right, four tickets to the show. I plan to treat my family to the event, but it seems I’ll have to buy one more ticket so we all can go. Anyway, playing the office pool has finally paid off. I’ve been playing for years with no results, so it’s nice to finally have something to show for it!
It really bites that most of my friends and family have relocated so far from here. We do try to keep in touch with all of the various ways that today’s technologies allow us to and for the major holidays we have managed to get most everyone together as best as we can, but it still hurts.
A good friend of mine is hiring a local DJ for her 25th wedding anniversary party she is throwing in September that I would love to attend. This DJ has the latest pcdj software that is so talked about these days in the music industry. Unfortunately September is such a busy month, what with schools getting started and all the chores that are required to tend to at that time of the year, that there really isn’t any real chance that I could just take off for a long weekend for something like this. At least I know that there will be plenty of pictures that I can look at when she gets around to posting them on Facebook.
It seems that there is a new study out that predicts that women are more susceptible to cigarette smoke than men. A study by the Swiss indicates that women are younger when they get lung cancer, even if they have smoked less than men. There are other studies that show that women die in greater numbers than men from smoking.
Second hand smoke also plays a role in people who get cancer. I think it is important that if you smoke, at least have the courtesy to go outside and away from everyone else. Don’t forget that lung cancer is the leading cause of death for all people in the U.S.
I am a firm believer in the benefits of recycling. I think it helps the environment and keeps our earth green. One thing that gets me upset at times is when I see people throw things in the trash when there is a recycling bin nearby. This happened to me the other day.
Last summer on a trip, I was at the beach when I saw a woman throw her empty plastic bottle in the trash. I couldn’t believe it as there was a recycle bin right next to the trash can. This kind of laziness is unacceptable to me. I mentioned to the lady what she had done and she apologized claiming that she wasn’t thinking. I hope she thinks about it in the future.
PLEASE RECYCLE – we only have one earth!
If you can’t find the perfect wall fountains at Soothingwalls than you are just hard put to please. This wonderful Swan Lake Wall Fountain, would be so awesome in my living room. Maybe if I get the full amount that I am expecting back from Uncle Sam in a few weeks, I can seriously considering purchasing this large natural indoor wall fountain. But after last year’s hassle with the IRS I’m not going to count my chickens before they hatch and get stuck in a jam again.
